Enhancing the Book Fair, developing reading culture

In response to VietnamBook Day (April 21st), the PPC held the 3rd Phu YenProvincial Book Fair - 2019 with the theme "Books-Knowledge, Developmentand Integration" from April 19th to 21st at the ProvincialMuseum. Talking to Phu Yen Newspaper aroundthe programs of the Book Fair, Mr. Phan Dinh Phung, Vice Chairman of theProvincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of Phu Yen BookFair for the 3rd time - 2019, let known:

- This year's Book Fair has a practical meaning towards the44^th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the South region and thereunification of the country (April 30^th, 1975 - April 30^th,2019); and the 30^thanniversary of the re-establishment of Phu Yenprovince (July 1^st, 1989 - July 1^st, 2019).

This is the third time in a row, the Provincial People'sCommittee has organized a Book Fair to affirm its role and importance; honorthe value of books and participants in the process of collecting, studying,composing, publishing, printing, publishing, storing and promoting books; thereby,mobilize the participation of the community and all social resources ininvesting in reading culture development; building a healthy, practical anduseful cultural space for many readers, creating closer coherence between booksand readers, encouraging and developing reading culture in the community,contributing to building a learning society, a beauty in social life. At thesame time, it’s also to improve the responsibilities of all levels, sectors,functional agencies, social organizations, the team of people who write books,participate in publishing and printing activities.

* Could you tell us about how this year's exhibition ofthe Book Fair is organized?

- With the aim of primarily serving the political andcultural tasks of the province, the 3rd Phu Yen Book Fair - 2019 is organizedwith many activities to link the responsibilities of the concerned branches andthe positive response of every class of people; the organizational work isensured strictly, scientifically, safely and practically.

The Book Fair with 10 participating units has exhibited 17book-stalls, focusing on introducing many types of books, comprehensively reflectingachievements and potentials of socio-economic development of the country andthe locality through the publications, books, magazines and newspapers arepublished by agencies and units in the province, types of books are publishednationwide and abroad.
This is also an opportunity for readers, professional unitsto exchange and exchange books. Thereby, step by step, a healthy and usefulcultural playground for readers and book lovers, especially cadres, civilservants, employees, students and children will be built.

* The organization of Book Fair always constitutes a seriesof cultural activities associated with books, a place of crystallization,convergence and spread of love to all classes of people. What is the mostprominent feature in this year's Book Fair activity, sir?

- The Book Fair program this time has also taken place manyexciting and rewarding activities, such as: Exchanging between readers withauthors, works and book introduction; Seminar "Students and reading";The art exchange program between musicians and singers with the audience, withthe theme "Singing school songs"; The story-telling contest accordingto books with the theme of the stories about Uncle Ho, the homeland and thepeople of Vietnam, about grandparents, parents, in order to maintain anddevelop a wide range of reading and expanding knowledge, training skills,aptitude for students...

On the occasion of this year's Book Fair, I suggest alllevels and sectors in the province continue to promote organizing programs andactivities on books in different forms to help people have more opportunitiesto access books-a precious treasure of mankind knowledge; contributing tosuccessfully implementing the national strategy of reading culture development.
