On May 13, a workshop on coastal protection was held at the Departmentof Natural Resources and Environment, between the 2019 Pacific PartnershipProgram delegation (PP19) with representatives of DONREs, Agriculture and RuralDevelopment, Industry and Trade, Provincial Border Guard Command.

Delegatesdiscussed 11 topics on the position and potential of Phu Yen sea; managementand control of marine environment from aquaculture activities; emergency situationsmanagement, coastal functional areas; coastal coping strategies, copingstrategies; searching and rescuing work at sea; assessing the coast, the healthand safety of the community; oil spill response in Phu Yen province; Responseplan, map of coastal environmental sensitivity.

According to the presentation at the workshop, the Phu Yencoastal area has a total area of ​​about 1,279 km2 in 56 communes, wardsand towns. There are 31 communes and wards bordering the sea and the bay, witha population of about 500,000 people.

Coastalenvironment is affected by waste from surrounding households, from productionand business activities of factories, industrial parks and aquacultureactivities. Recently, the environmental protection in coastal areas has beendrastically deployed by the province with many different measures.

In additionto exchanging expertise, dividing discussion groups, doctors, nurses, midwivesparticipating in the workshop also practiced on the model brought by the PP19delegation. According to pediatric gastroenterologist Dani Barnes, the workshopshared knowledge and skills to help newborns breathe in the first minute ofbirth, based on evidence-based medicine. "Our goal is to end the workshop,participants can share this skill with their other colleagues," said Dr.Dani Barnes.

At Phu YenTraditional Medicine Hospital, professional exchange activities on rectalendoscopy have just started from the morning and will end this afternoon (May14). Workshops: Best nursing practice, Clinical Pharmacy and Nutrition havejust finished. Along with contributing to improving knowledge, clinicalpractices are very useful in professional work.

* On the sameday, Phu Yen Medical College cooperated with the mission of the Medical Attachéof the US Embassy of PP19 to organize a voluntary blood donation program. 120teachers, students and students of this school participate in voluntary blooddonation.

At theceremony, Dr. Bui Tran Ngoc, Rector of Phu Yen Medical College emphasized:With the motto "Every drop of blood gives away - A life to stay", theschool's voluntary blood donation program always receives the Deep concern ofofficials, teachers, students and students over the years.
