The Provincial Women'sUnion has been focusing on implementing the project of Propaganda, Education, Advocacyand Support for women to participate in solving a number of social issuesrelated to women in the 2017-2027 period (Project 938) associated withimplementing the theme of Safety Year for women and children; thereby, topromote the role of women in participating in solving pressing issues ofsociety related to women and children.

The Provincial Women's Union has just organized 2 trainingcourses to improve the implementation capacity for Project 938 to the staff ofthe Associations in 9 districts, town, city and the Chairman of the Women'sUnion in 112 communes, wards and townships in the province.

Accordingly, the Provincial Women's Union instructed the Associationstaff at all levels to implement Project 938 in association with conducting thetheme of Safety Year for women and children; how to replicate the model ofParents group with children aged from 0 to 8 years old; skills to participatein solving pressing social problems in localities.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Be, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of XuanQuang 2 commune (Dong Xuan district) - an attendant of the training courseconfided: "Thanks to this training, I learned more useful knowledge topropagate the association’s members in my locality”.

According to Ms. Be, Xuan Quang 2 is one of the difficultmountainous communes in Dong Xuan district. Most women are busy earning fortheir lives, paying little attention to their own health care; their knowledgeof food hygiene and safety is also limited. Therefore, in the coming time, the CommunalWomen's Union will focus on propagating these issues for women whenimplementing Project 938.

"Associated with the theme of Safety Year for women andchildren, this year, the Association focused on propaganda to raise awarenessabout the role and responsibility of ensuring safety for women and children;training, providing knowledge and skills for them. In addition, the ProvincialWomen's Union also cooperates with experts who have in-depth knowledge of eachfield in the process of organizing activities to ensure safety for women andchildren.

At the same time, supervising, criticizing, proposingpolicies and protecting women and children, promoting the implementation of theobjective of Project 938 is also conducted. Not to let the situation of seriousabuse and violence against women and children that the Association does notspeak up in a timely manner...”, Ms. Tran Thi Binh, Vice Chairman of the ProvincialWomen's Union said.

Currently, social issues related to women and children suchas school violence, injury accidents, domestic violence, child sexual abuse,social evils are increasingly complicated and serious, which has causedpressing in public opinion; the situation of food insecurity, child marriage,near-marital marriage in ethnic minority and mountainous areas... still takesplace, requiring the Women's Union and related sectors to be more involved andmore effective.

Talking about this issue, the Chairman of the Women's Union inSong Hinh district, Ms. Nay Ho Nhon said: “Currently, the situation of childmarriage and marital marriage in Song Hinh district has been still happening.This makes the Women's Union as well as the Party committees, the governmentextremely anxious.

Therefore, this year promoting propaganda to prevent andreduce child marriage and near-marital marriage in the area is going to be focusedon. Recently, the District Women's Union has cooperated with the ProvincialWomen's Union to establish an ethnic minority women's club saying no to child marriage,inbreeding marriage in Ea Bar commune.
