After a long time of making effortsto manage, propagate and raise awareness of employers and employees onoccupational safety and health (OSH), most businesses in the Industrial parks(IPs) in the province have made many positive changes in this work right at thefacilities.

In 3industrial zones in the province, there are 65 enterprises operating inproduction and business in many different fields; in which, wood and fisheryprocessing sectors have a high proportion of employees. These are alsoindustries with high risk of OSH loss, potentially causing factors thatdirectly make the accidents happen or affect the health of employees and socialunions.

According tothe Management Board of Phu Yen Economic Zone (EZ), over the past time, thesystem of legal documents on OSH has been improved; information andcommunication activities, the application of measures to improve workingconditions with new technologies, advanced management systems, as well as thestrict observance of OSH regulations of enterprises, Production facilities andemployees are increasingly interested in implementing. Thereby, it has beencontributing to curbing accidents and diseases related to employees; Awarenessof levels, sectors, employers and employees on OSH and fire prevention andfighting has been positively changed.

At MoscVietnam Co., Ltd. (Hoa Hiep Industrial Park), OSH security is always concerned.The company currently has about 100 workers. To reduce heavy labor for workers,in production areas, modern machinery investment companies.

Ms. Dam ThiKhuyen, Chairman of the Trade Union of the company said: “Every year, thecompany prepares and implements the OSH plan, equips and distributes laborsafety equipment suitable to the work; conduct the measurement and checking theworking environment periodically to have a timely solution when the workingenvironment is not guaranteed. Inspection of machinery and equipment withstrict OSH requirements is followed and strictly implemented. Fire alarmsystems are installed throughout the workshop, fire conditions are alwaysavailable when a situation occurs ... ”.

As for HaoHung Co., Ltd. (Northeast Song Cau Industrial Park), along with ensuring thehealth of employees, improving the working environment, ensuring OSH,preventing fire and explosion are always identified by the company as the toptask. Mr. Le Van Ho, Executive Manager of the company said: "Determiningto improve the working environment is both a responsibility for employees aswell as ensuring the sustainable development of the business, right from thetime of entering the construction until taking part in the production, thecompany established a trade union to take care of and protect workers' rightsand interests. At the same time, we are also interested in arrangingspecialized OSH staff, building a safety and hygiene network at productionworkshops; fully developing safe operating and working procedures and appliedexclusively to every work area ”.

Mr. To VanKhai, Chairman of Phu Yen Economic Union, said: Every year, the union developsa propaganda plan, inspects and urges businesses with trade union organizationsto carry out their work of OSH. In the coming time, the trade union willcontinue to innovate and diversify information and propaganda activities sothat employees as well as employers can raise awareness about regimes,policies, knowledge and operational experience in the field of OSH. At the sametime, strengthening inspection and supervision of the implementation of OSH policiesand regimes; investigating and handling of labor accidents in accordance withlaw; launching emulation movement of "green, clean, beautiful, ensuringOSH", emulation movement of promoting initiatives, improving working conditions,building workplace safety culture.
