Vietnam resolutelyprotests against Taiwan (China)’s live-fire exercise around Ba Binh (Itu Aba)island in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, demanding that it refrainfrom such actions in the future, stated the Ministry of Foreign AffairsSpokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.

Hang made the statement while fielding questions fromreporters on the issue on March 21.
The diplomat elaborated that Vietnam has sufficient legalbasis and historic evidence affirming its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel)and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law.
Taiwan’s continuation of live-fire drills in the waterssurrounding Ba Binh island in Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago, despiteVietnam’s opposition, is a serious violation of Vietnam’s territorialsovereignty over the archipelago, posing a threat to peace, stability, andmaritime security and safety, as well as causing tension and complicating thesituation in the East Sea, she stressed.
