Phu Yen provincial YouthUnion, Genuine Partner JSC, Ho Chi Minh city's Young Doctor Association and PhuYen Compatriot Association in Ho Chi Minh city have organized a series of meaningfulvoluntary activities such as offering medical examination and medicinecontribution to people for free, inaugurating rural concrete road and givinggifts to poor students in three districts of Dong Xuan, Tuy An and Dong Hoa.This program has a great spread, promoting the role of young people in newrural construction, contributing to taking care of people's lives.

Crossing long distances to offer medical examinationto the poor

Last weekend, from early morning to late afternoon, 15doctors of Ho Chi Minh city'sYoung Doctor Association had to work hard to examine 1,000 patients in the communesof Xuan Quang 3 (Dong Xuan district), An Linh (Tuy An district) and Hoa XuanTay (Dong Hoa district). Despite travelling more than 600km and sweating underhot weather, young doctors still consulted enthusiastically and examinedthoughtfully health of people.

This is the fourth time that Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc Minhworking at Ho Chi Minh city UniversityMedicalCenter has come to Phu Yen with Ho Chi Minh city's YoungDoctor Association to give medical examination and health advice for people indifficult communes.

Coming back to Vietnamafter studying in America,with the strong desire of taking care of people’s health in remote areas, in the past twoyears, whenever having free time, the man born in 1987 has arranged his work togo to remote provinces with white-coat volunteers.

During this visit in Phu Yen, Dr. Minh did not onlyexamine osteoarthritis for people but also enthusiastically consulted aboutdiet and health. He shares: After talking with people, I am surprised to knowthat some people have to travel more than 20 km to see us after hearing news ofdoctors in Ho Chi Minh city.People in Phu Yen countryside are gentle and naive. Through clinical examination,I find that most of them often skip meals, have an unreasonable rest, do notpay much attention to their health and just see a doctor when being ill”.

Numerous people are touched with the kindness andfeelings full of humanity of doctors in upper hospitals when they are consultedand provided free medical examination and medicine distribution in friendly,open and enthusiastic manner.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lai in An Linh commune, Tuy Andistrict, lets known: In mountainous communes, due to difficult traffic and oldage, I rarely go to district hospital for health check. I am very happy to hearthat doctors in Ho Chi Minh citygive health examination for free in the commune. They examine and consulthealth very carefully, enthusiastically and friendly.

Contributing to adorn the rural appearance

In addition to medicine distribution program, one ofthe major activities in this series of voluntary activities is to inaugurateand put into use two rural concrete road works in Xuan Quang 3 and An Linhcommunes.

This is a project to celebrate the 25thanniversary of the summer volunteer campaign of Phu Yen youth (1994-2019), and30th anniversary of the provincial re-establishment (1989-2019). Theroad helps people in Phong Thai and Thanh Duc villages travel easier,contributing to changing the rural appearance.

Mr. Pham Huy Can, Secretary of the Party CommitteeXuan Quang 3 commune lets known: This road is just over 100m but locating infront of the cultural house of Thanh Duc village so it has a very importantposition. Previously, the road surface was muddy and slippery in the rainyseason and dusty in the dry season, so people always wish to have a spaciousand clean concrete road. The fact that this project is completed helps localpeople have more convenient in traveling and living.
