New step
The 30th anniversary of the provincialre-establishment is also the 2nd anniversary of the Foreign AffairsDepartment’s establishment and development. This department was establishedunder the PPC’s Decision No.1218/QD-UBND dated June 20th, 2017,which was an important event marking the maturity of organization and a newdevelopment step in foreign affairs of the province in the spirit of"proactive and active international integration" proposed by theResolution of the 16th provincial Party Congress and the Resolutionof the 12th National Party Congress.
Since establishment, the Foreign Affairs Department hashelped provincial leaders approach numerous countries around the world,promoting benefits of economic agreements, contributing to expanding market andpromoting export, strengthening sources of development assistance and foreigninvestment; simultaneously, supporting and helping enterprises and people toparticipate in international integration better.
The department has advised the province to organize delegations to have business trips and signcooperation with France, Italy, Hungary, India, Thailand, America, Japan andKorea; showing the province's initiativeclearly, activeness and determination in international integration,strengthening foreign relations activities to service the local socio-econodevelopment.
Through activities of the Department, the province hascontinued to improve the relations with Lao’s localities such as Savannakhetand Attapeu; receiving 10 Lao students to study at Phu Yen in the academic yearof 2018-2019.
The province has expanded cooperation in economy, trade andinvestment with Korean partners such as Chungbuk province, Seongdong district;simultaneously, seeking new partners on promoting the value of geologicaltourism heritage with Jeju province, Korea. The province has initially builtfriendly relations with foreign local authorities such as Lombardia (Italia)and Surin, Buriram (Thailand).
Foreign activities have directly and indirectly contributedto expanding economic and trade cooperation with foreign countries, improvingthe image and position of Phu Yen in the region and the world; maintainingstable security, order and protecting sovereignty.
Closely following the foreign policy of the Party and theState, the province has actively promoted international cooperation withcountries in the region and the world; strengthening social and culturalexchanges, expanding numerous different partners, contributing to promotingsocio-econo cooperation, creating favorable conditions for cooperation todevelop.

Phu Yen has a favorable geographical position for foreignaffairs and international integration. As a locality in the south centralregion with the coastal road of 189km, the province has numerous favorable in exchangingwith local partners in the Asia-Pacific region. Also, this geographicalposition helps Phu Yen become one of the convenient gateways towards thePacific for regions and provinces of Laos and Cambodia.
With a favorable position rich in potentials of naturalresources and marine resources, strengths in climate and abundant sources ofsea food and forest, Phu Yen has numerous advantages to implement policies ofexpanding cooperation and international integration with local partners ofdeveloping countries in the world and diversifying partners to serve the localsustainable development.
The mission of the Foreign Affairs Department in the comingtime focuses on three major directions which are: building and developing anetwork of foreign partners of the province to mobilize outside resources toserve the local socio-econo development; supporting sectors, localities andenterprises in the province to effectively implement international cooperationand integration.
Besides, promoting potentials, cultural strengths and valuesof the province to foreign countries; contributing to building a dynamic andfriendly image of Phu Yen with regional and international countries.Simultaneously, ensuring to have a unified management regulation of foreignaffairs in the province; implementing well the task of managing delegations inthe locality coming in and out the country, the task of consular and citizenprotection, foreign information and tasks related to the national border on thesea.
In order to carry out these tasks, in the coming time, theForeign Affairs Department will continue to closely follow directions of theprovincial Party Committee and the PPC, strictly coordination among sectors,levels and active support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamesediplomatic missions in foreign countries, promoting the province's relationswith foreign partners on all sides.
Foreign affairs of the province will actively promotefavorable factors of friendly cooperation with foreign localities to serveeconomic activities, attract investment, transfer science and technology andbuild the international heritage title. Doing these tasks well, foreign affairswill contribute significantly to the fast and sustainable development of PhuYen province in the coming years.
